Privacy Policy

Your documents
We do not store your documents. When you upload a PDF, it is held in your browser's memory and transmitted to our AI provider (Anthropic) to answer your questions. A temporary copy is created with the provider for the duration of your session and we request its deletion when you close the tab or switch documents. Anthropic may retain API inputs for a limited period (currently up to 30 days) for trust-and-safety purposes under their own policy. We never write your document to our own databases or servers.
What we do store
- Account data — your email address and hashed password (managed by Supabase).
- Chat transcripts — if you have an account, your questions and the AI's answers are saved so you can revisit them. You can delete any conversation, or your entire account (which erases everything), at any time from within the app.
- Usage counts — how many questions you've asked per day, to enforce plan limits.
- Shared links — if you explicitly share a conversation, its transcript becomes readable by anyone with the link until you stop sharing.
Cookies
We use cookies only to keep you signed in and to count free questions for visitors without accounts. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Third parties
Anthropic (AI processing), Supabase (database and authentication), and our hosting provider process data on our behalf. We do not sell your data to anyone.
Your rights
You can export nothing simpler than deleting: remove individual conversations, stop sharing links, or delete your account entirely in Account settings — deletion is immediate and permanent. For anything else, contact support@documentpal.com.
Children
DocumentPal is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We'll update this page if our practices change; material changes will be noted in the app.
